Wood Borer Treatment

Prevention Is Better Than Cure

The borer are more active from March-April and becomes less active from november onwards.
There are 1-3 generations depending upon the climatic conditions. The adult Borer (2.2-4.5mm in length) vary in color from reddish-brown to black . The female deposits about 50eggs. They feed on the cell contents of the sapwood. while feeding, they make tunnels and pupate within the wood. On emergence, the adult borer cuts its way of a circular hole through which a powderly mass is ejected, durung the active season. The life-cycle is complited in a few monts. It may get prolonged to even two years in wood having low starch content.

Special tips for Wood Borer Control.

1: Highly toxic pesticide is injected into the exit holes.
2: Indirect heat is applied with a Hot Blower Gun.

Eggs – seen in fractures of wooden items, floorboards and timbers.
Wood borer larvae – typically a creamy-white color and curved in form.
Bore dust / frass – due to emerging adult beetles, typically visible under the Engineered timber.
Weak and ruined floorboards – in extreme instances, a foot or seat leg moving through the ground can signal a more severe issue.
Crumbling timber – round corners or borders of floorboards.
Tunnels from the timber – also called’galleries’ that are often difficult to determine.
Dead borers – typically found close to the Engineered timber or about nearby windowsills.
Exit holes wood – oblong or round shaped with sharp borders, the holes may soon look fresh and clean.
